Walk a candle aisle and read the labels: vanilla, amber, oud, musk, cedar, fig — frequently all six on one jar. Tallow & Ash's founder described this as a room shouting six things at once, and built a company on saying one.
Single-note scent profiles, in tallow rather than paraffin or soy, slow-burning on a single wick. No synthetic fragrance, and pointedly no throw claims, because 'fills a large room' is a promise nobody can verify and everybody makes.
The commercial cost is real. Single notes test worse than complex blends, and tallow is a harder sell than the word 'soy'. The range stays small and the labels stay plain, which the founder considers the price of the position rather than a problem to fix.
